Special Selection Bottled Project

Built in 1811,  the largest distillery in Scotland, was closed and demolished in 2011

Benson Tse, a qualified supplier and cigar trader for CigarBen in Hong Kong, selected this legacy spirit for his second collection

The Story

Port Dundas was a historic grain whisky distillery located in Glasgow, Scotland, renowned for its role in producing grain whisky for blends.

Found in 1811, it was one of Scotland's oldest grain distilleries. However, operations creased in 2011 as part of Diageo's consolidation effects to streamline production. The distillery's towering chimney and canal-side warehouses were iconic Glasglow landmarks until their demolition.

Port Dundas represents Scotland's industrial whisky heritage, blending tradition with scale. Its closure marked the end of an era for Glascow's once-thriving distilling sector, though its whisky lives on in blends and occasional indie releases.

Let's taste their typical flavour—light, sweet, and floral, with vanilla and cereal notes.

Benson was bottling this legacy spirit cask at full strength, the perfect pairing with cigars.

The First Whisky Project of CigarBen

Benson selected The Speyside Distillery as his first whisky project, a single malt Scotch whisky producer located in the Speyside region of Scotland. Near the River Tromie in Kingussie, Cairngorms National Park.

This cask was distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2020 summer. It also stayed at full strength in the alcohol volume of 60.2%.  Rich fruits, dried apricots & figs, vanilla, caramel and polished wood, subtle beeswax and a whisper of clove.  Toasted almond and oily mouthfeel from long maturation.

Go to CigarBen, if you want to add a bottle of this powerful but very smooth Speyside whisky to your spirits collection.
